Bitcoin.com has launched a suite of new tools and resources aimed at demystifying the process of developing apps on Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
Their new online portal, at developer.bitcoin.com, offers five separate tools for developers, alongside a tool called ‘Market’, designed to allow developers to monetise their creations. Developers can access the Bitbox SDK, Cloud, REST and GUI platforms, to “supercharge their workflow”, for developing for the Bitcoin BCH ecosystem.
Bitbox SDK is described as a “powerful suite”, with easy APIs and features including HDNodes, ECPairs, mnemonics and addresses. REST is a “RPC over HTTP application” for Bitcoin BCH, with REST semantics, while the GUI provides ”a full BCH blockchain and BIP44 compatible wallet”, which developers can use to generate a fresh BCH chain with each restart for testing purposes.
The Cloud platform is still under development, but once available, it will enable apps to be launched within Bitcoin.com’s cloud, allowing for ease of deployment and scalability.
According to a blog post discussing the launch, Bitcoin.com said the applications were designed to make developing for bitcoin even more accessible.
“We want the Bitcoin Cash network to change the world for the better and Bitcoin.com’s suite of developer applications allow anyone to produce world-class platforms within this innovative ecosystem,” the Bitcoin.com team stated. “Bitcoin.com is all about the power of economic freedom and we believe Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has the power to change the world. Over the past few months, BCH development has been exponential as there has been a slew of new apps like wallets, social media platforms, SMS apps, tipping bots, coin shufflers, torrent software, and so much more.”
The launch comes at an exciting time for Bitcoin BCH, with numerous new apps appearing over the last few months. These include Memo.cash, a social network build on the BCH chain, Member, which allows users to pin blockchain messages to specific locations, and Chainfeed, which provides a newsfeed of messages written to the BCH blockchain. With Bitcoin.com now ensuring programmers are better equipped to create on the blockchain, it can only be a matter of time before the next wave of BCH projects are developed.
Incidentally, if you have Bitcoin Cash-based tokenization solution in mind, CoinGeek is running a £5-million contest for designs that will put tokenization on the BCH chain. The contest is still open, with an adjusted reward and terms, to enable other solutions to also be developed and released open source on the BCH platform. More information about the CoinGeek tokenization contest can be found here.
Note: Tokens on the Bitcoin Core (segwit) Chain are Referred to as BTC coins. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is today the only Bitcoin implementation that follows Satoshi Nakamoto’s original whitepaper for Peer to Peer Electronic Cash. Bitcoin BCH is the only major public blockchain that maintains the original vision for Bitcoin as fast, frictionless, electronic cash.
